About the Club
Open during school holidays between 8:00am and 5:30pm, Euro Bugs Holiday Club is a safe and stimulating environment in which children’s personal and social development is nurtured through games and activities with a European dimension.
- To foster interest and enjoyment in learning foreign languages, through a fun, interactive, games based approach to language acquisition.
- To develop an awareness of European cultural heritage, and strengthen children’s sense of place and belonging in the world.
- Children are given the opportunity to develop skills in a range of European languages (Spanish, French, German and Italian).
- Language learning is enriched with culturally themed art/craft and drama activities.
Teaching and Learning Styles
Led by an experienced MFL teacher, the following techniques are used to encourage children to actively engage with Languages:
Games – in order to develop vocabulary through repetition, reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
Role-play – to practise the words and phrases which they have learnt in a small group situation.
Action songs and rhymes – to develop phonetic skills, memory skills and to further vocabulary.
Puppets and toys – to be used to develop communication skills and give new language a context.
Mime – to associate vocabulary with kinaesthetic learning.
At Euro bugs we believe that through an appreciation of other people and other cultures, children gain a personal sense of place and belonging in the world. This has a positive impact on their confidence and social development.
Children learn best when they are relaxed and happy. Language learning and cultural awareness activities lend themselves to team games, role-play, art and craft activities… and above all fun!, making it the perfect basis for a Holiday Club.
